The founders of BulletBlocker are also former law enforcement officer with prior military service, too. Consequentially, in wanting to maintain ties with our past colleagues and brothers on the force, we've set up this blog roll to provide better access to the numerous police blogs and law enforcement sites across the web.

In the course of the history of the United States, over 18,000 police officers have lost their lives in the line of duty. Per the National Institute of Justice, at least 3,000 officer's have been saved by bulletproof vests since they started being used in 1975. When we take into consideration how many have been wounded, there is no doubt that being a police officer in the United States is hazardous duty. That is why we do our best to provide high quality, tested and NEW body armor at a cost that most law enforcement officers can afford in the all too common event that their employers do not provide adequate PBP - personal ballistic protection.

Outdated and used body armor present a huge risk and no testing facility would certify a body armor vest that was used or older than 5yrs old. We do not sell any used body armor products.

What we do sell are 4 models of high quality NIJ Threat Level 3a rated body armor vests. Most police officers don't like us to use the term "bullet proof best". We know. We were trained the same way. The problem we find as business owners is the realization that google searches drive consumer behavior, and in turn, retailer behavior. As a small scale manufacturer of body armor products in a world of some very big players, we discovered that "body armor" is not a very well used search term. However, terms like bulletproof vest and bullet proof vest are searched in high volume. So we do our best to provide information and links to other sources to educate the entry level consumer about threat levels and NIJ testing. So FOR THE RECORD: Nothing is really bullet proof. Bullet proof and bulletproof are both terms used as generic representatives of ballistic protection.

Instructions: Use Good Judgement. Hold shield products between yourself and the shooter (using the straps as handles where applicable). Use as a shield to provide cover for upper torso and head whenever possible. While taking shelter use shield product to protect yourself in the direction of the threat. While running away, hold shield product high on your back or in the direction of the threat to protect your head and upper torso (vital organs).

BulletBlocker UHMWPE UD (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) Laminations are a Spectra Type, unique lightweight composite material providing superior anti-ballistic protection, for both personnel and vehicle protection. UD stands for "unidirectional": In UHMWPE UD Laminations, all the fibers are laid parallel, in the same plane, rather than being woven together. UHMWPE UD Laminations are made of several layers of UHMWPE fibers, with the direction of fibers in each layer at 90 degree to the direction of the fibers in the adjacent layers. The unidirectional configuration of the fibers in UHMWPE UD Laminations allows the energy transferred from the impact of a bullet or other ballistic threat to be distributed along the fibers much faster and more efficiently than in conventional woven aramid type fabrics. This is because the absorption power of the yarn in woven fabrics is lost at the crossover points, as these points reflect rather than absorb the shockwaves of the impact. In UHMWPE UD Laminations, much more of the material is engaged in stopping the bullet, making it more effective against ballistics. Dyneema UD PE and Spectra are typical UHMWPE UD laminate materials. The polyethylene base material makes this one of the most moisture resistant anti-ballistic materials available.
