When hiking in the fall, it's hunting season, and it's important to be visible in the woods. There's no better way than by wearing blaze orange — the color worn by virtually all hunters, and the color which excites the visual spectrum to such a degree that you pretty much have to stick your head in a bucket to miss it.
Many people, especially those unfamiliar with the traditions of hunting, are fearful of venturing into the woods during hunting season. Caution is certainly advisable, but fear isn't necessary, if you think about where you're going and you prepare properly for your trip. The best form of preparation is in the clothing you wear and the places you choose to go. Avoid wearing white during hunting season. A flash of white may be mistaken for the white of a deer's tail. Follow the lead of hunters when you dress for a fall hike. Items of blaze-orange clothing that are visible from all directions are best. Hunters generally know where hiking trails are located, so it's not a bad idea to stick to established trails and limit off-trail tramping at this time of year.

Technical Data:

Technically the most accurate terminology for a Bulletproof Vest is a Bullet-Resistant Vest or Anti-Ballistic Vest. No vest is 100% completely bulletproof - shoot enough rounds at any vest and it will break down and penetrations of the bulletproof panel will happen. Per independent lab tests and those that you can see on our videos, our vests do stand up against repeated handgun rounds - in one example, over 70 rounds fired with no penetrations. Other terms for a bulletproof vest include body armor, body armor vest, tactical vest, tactical body armor, and ballistic body armor. The most common vernacular, however is bulletproof vest or bullet proof vest in the civilian world, or body armor or tactical vest in law enforcement and security.
You might also be aware of the term kevlar vest, however, that refers to a specific type of anti-ballistic material under its own patent, whereas BulletBlocker vests, backpacks and travel accessories make use of UHMWPE UD (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) Laminations. There are also stab vests and we are pending independent testing and rating before we promote our products as stab resistant.

Instructions: Use Good Judgement. Hold shield products between yourself and the shooter (using the straps as handles where applicable). Use as a shield to provide cover for upper torso and head whenever possible. While taking shelter use shield product to protect yourself in the direction of the threat. While running away, hold shield product high on your back or in the direction of the threat to protect your head and upper torso (vital organs).

BulletBlocker UHMWPE UD (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) Laminations are a Spectra Type, unique lightweight composite material providing superior anti-ballistic protection, for both personnel and vehicle protection. UD stands for "unidirectional": In UHMWPE UD Laminations, all the fibers are laid parallel, in the same plane, rather than being woven together. UHMWPE UD Laminations are made of several layers of UHMWPE fibers, with the direction of fibers in each layer at 90 degree to the direction of the fibers in the adjacent layers. The unidirectional configuration of the fibers in UHMWPE UD Laminations allows the energy transferred from the impact of a bullet or other ballistic threat to be distributed along the fibers much faster and more efficiently than in conventional woven aramid type fabrics. This is because the absorption power of the yarn in woven fabrics is lost at the crossover points, as these points reflect rather than absorb the shockwaves of the impact. In UHMWPE UD Laminations, much more of the material is engaged in stopping the bullet, making it more effective against ballistics. Dyneema UD PE and Spectra are typical UHMWPE UD laminate materials. The polyethylene base material makes this one of the most moisture resistant anti-ballistic materials available.

Our anti-ballistic material has been independently tested to the Threat Level IIIa standard. Threat Level IIIa rated anti-ballistic material is resistant to most all handgun ammunition including .22SR, .22LR .25, .32, .38, .380, .357Magnum, 9mm Full Metal Jacket, .40 Cal., .45cal. and .44 Magnum. Most of the personal body armor worn by law enforcement is Threat Level II or IIa, both are a lower level of protection. Ballistic Protection also saves lives in bomb blast with fragmentation sharpnel and explosive incidents. There are thousands of cases of shrapnel being stopped by body armor.
