Question: Can the BulletBlocker products be carried on a commercial airline?

Answer: Yes. The BulletBlocker panels, themselves or integrated into a backpack or notebook pose no threat and can be seen through at the x-ray security checkpoints. There are no instances of anyone being inconvenienced or stopped because of our inserts or integrated liners.

Question: What are the most popular products?

Answer: Our 3 most popular products, in order of popularity are;

The large BulletBlocker Panel. This seems to have the most appeal because it can be transferred from pack to pack (or carrier to carrier)and it will outlast the style and/or durability of most packs or bags. Many people already have a favorite backpack or bag. It may be the brand name backpack or the designer carry-on or satchel or a courier style bag. Whatever "favorites" the user already owns can become "bulletproof" simply by sliding the insert out of one bag and putting it in another. There are no special fasteners. The large panel is approx. 12x17 inches and is 1/4 inch thick. The panel itself weighs approx. 19oz, about the same weight as a bottle of water.

The Executive series Backpack is our second most popular item. It is simply a nicely styled, well thought-out backpack that is suitable for most school or business environments. The simple lines, "iPod" pocket and headphone port, cellphone pocket, water bottle pocket and padded computer compartment make this our most desirable pack.

The third most popular item is our Executive series bulletproof vest. The simple design, affordable price and ease of storage (it lies flat at about 1/2 inch thick with the front and back panel at approx. 1/4 inch thick each and laying on top of eachother). The vest design offers approx. 200 square inches of protection to the vital areas of the upper torso in both the front and back (200Sq. inches +/- on EACH side). The product comes in a number of colors and fits in a typical briefcase. The vest seems to be popular with people that range from executives to hunters and shooters and our blaze orange model appeals to hunters as well as those outdoors people that still like to play in the woods in hunting season.

Question: What is the BulletBlocker Threat Level 3A material?

UHMWPE UD (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) Laminations are a unique lightweight composite material providing superior anti-ballistic protection, for both personnel and vehicle protection. UD stands for "unidirectional": In UHMWPE UD Laminations, all the fibers are laid parallel, in the same plane, rather than being woven together. UHMWPE UD Laminations are made of several layers of UHMWPE fibers, with the direction of fibers in each layer at 90 degree to the direction of the fibers in the adjacent layers. The unidirectional configuration of the fibers in UHMWPE UD Laminations allows the energy transferred from the impact of a bullet or other ballistic threat to be distributed along the fibers much faster and more efficiently than in conventional woven aramid type fabrics. This is because the absorption power of the yarn in woven fabrics is lost at the crossover points, as these points reflect rather than absorb the shockwaves of the impact. In UHMWPE UD Laminations, much more of the material is engaged in stopping the bullet, making it more effective against ballistics. DyneemaŽ UD is a kind of typical UHMWPE UD laminate material. The polyethylene base material makes this one of the most moisture resistant anti-ballistic materials available.

Question: What is "testing to the Threat Level 3a Standard"?

Answer: The National Institue for Justice is the certifying body for law enforcement anti-ballistic body armor. Police Body Armor/Vests are 'certified' when they are tested by H.P. White's Lab (the same lab that has tested our product) to the NIJ Standards and meet specific body armor labelling requirements of the NIJ. The 'certification' only applies to body armor/vests. Backpacks and panels can be tested to the same standards but the NIJ does not 'certify" such products. Part 2 of your question is: Threat Level 3a refers to the type of ammunition. Because of the power of today's common ammunition, most police officers choose the Threat Level 3a protection level. Any higher protection level is most applicable to military or "SWAT" use. The Threat Level 3a standard includes ammunition below the 3a standard (including .45 cal. AND the higher powered 9mm Full Metal Jacket and .44Magnum. This covers most available handgun rounds. See our test results for more information. Don't accept imitations, copy-cats or used materials. Make sure you only buy products using brand new materials that have been tested by the company producing the items via H.P. White's lab.

Question: How does a bulletproof backpack work if someone is shooting in front of me?

Answer: The goal of our designs is to have protection available to the user without the inconvenience of carryng around an extra item for the "just in case" situation. It is convenient to use a backpack or carry a notebook. We knows this because we all already do it. The benefit of our products comes from the availability of the protection it affords BECAUSE it is integrated into something you already use. In the unfortunate situation where you may find yourself needing bulletproof protection this is a product that you can use for protection that compliments the personal safety measures you will already be taking: If the user is "sheltering in place" like what is drilled in most school systems, the backpack or notebook can be held up in the direction of the threat to provide solid cover in addition to sitting against the wall, or behind the desk or in the supply closet. If the user is in a situation where they need to hide behind a wall or behind a car or other solid "cover" object, the backpack can be taken off and used to provide additional solid cover in the places where there are gaps in the available protection and in the direction of the threat or ricochets. If the user is being evacuated from an area, the backpack or notebook can be held up to cover the head and/or upper torso in the direction of the threat, while running.

The best answer is that these products ADD to the available defensive resources without interfering with normal safety measures or systemic security procedures.
